| Purpose: |
To
recommend the rules and regulations by which the
Academy recognizes and issues certification in Auditory-Verbal
Therapy. |
| Chair: |
The
Chair of the Auditory-Verbal Certification Committee
shall be appointed by the Academy President and
ratified by the Academy Board of Directors. |
| Membership: |
The
Auditory-Verbal Certification Committee shall consist
of no less than six (6) persons who are Cert. AVTs
in good standing and one (1) public member. |
| Term: |
Each
member shall serve for a two (2) year term. Terms
shall be staggered so as not to all expire at the
same time to the extent and as determined by the
Board of Directors. |
| Meetings: |
The
committee shall convene two times annually or as
often as needed (in person and/or via conference
call) to present appropriate recommendations to
the Board. |

Authority |
1.
Define the criteria that must be met before someone
sits for the Examination in Auditory-Verbal Development.
The process by which changes are made to the criteria
shall be proposed and justified in writing and approved
by a qualified psychometrician.
2. Review applications for individuals who desire
to sit for the Examination in Auditory-Verbal Development.
3. Develop, administer, and oversee the scope of
the Examination in Auditory-Verbal Development and
report the results and analysis within eight (8)
weeks following the exam to the Academy Board of
Directors to determine strengths and weaknesses
in the certification program.
4. Review and modify exam measurement objectives.
5. Expand existing item bank with a least 25 percent
more questions in the bank than the number of questions
for the exam:
a. Correct invalidated items
b. Write questions for expanded items
6. Monitor changes in source documents and adjust
item bank/exam accordingly.
